Second year in a row we join organization KOD in their annual acorn collection day, for the initiative called “100.000 trees”. At the great Kakaricka gora location our now professional youth acorn collectors joined volunteers from all generations to collect as many as possible healthy samples that will be planted. Our youth Brian Martic also had a chance to give an interview on the subject, video soon to be released. Join us in activities such as these all across Montenegro.

NGO strategic planning and personal goal setting

On the 10th of January, assisted by an abundance of homemade cakes and pancakes, our traditional January volunteer meeting was held. We firstly focused on the strategic planning for NGO Our actions activities for 2020, ie in which direction do our members want our NGO to go to best serve their needs. The tradition of our organization has always been an open door policy towards its young members and their needs, wishes and challenges as that is why the NGO was founded.

The second part of the meeting, volunteers worked on their own development thru a personal SWAT analisis and then personal goal setting for 2020. Year 2019 has been a year of change for our NGO with the older generations leaving and many new members with us who have not touched any of these subjects in their lives so the subject at hand was new to many. We even touched the subjects of happiness and youth mental health – so rarely talked about in our society. Of more then 100 members of our NGO, one fourth where at this first yearly activity, however we will repeat it soon for volunteers from other cities.

Educational event ” Youth about youth”, Budva

On the 26th of December in the fabulously decorated TQ Plaza in Budva the educational event “Youth about youth: What have we done and have we done enough in 2019?”. We joined this event by invitation of the TQ Plaza and Youth club Budva. During the evening everyone enjoyed the sounds of the elementary school choir, various promotions and interaction. Besides the choir Svorcan Matija,a local Budva youth talked about the promotion of recycled aluminium cans and plastic bottle lids, and Lazar Djurovic displayed physics experiments. NGO Our actions at their tables focused on CV writing and career counseling, as well sa promoting youth mobility thru stipends, education, exchange and EVS experiences many of our members have participated in. We also talked about our organizational achievements in 2019. Humanitarian action collection of Christmas gifts for youth with disabilities in Niksic

On the 26th of december NGO Our action handed finished the humanitarian action of collecting Christmas gift packages for the organization of helping persons with disabilities located in Niksic. 42 gift pakets were collected by volunteers and friends of our NGO. Youth from this organization had a wonderful Christmas party and received their gifts at the party. We thank all the volunteers and donors from the towns of Tivat, Kotor, Herceg Novi and Podgorica for assisting.

Planting of Milos forest on Dajbabska gora, Podgorica

During december NGO Our action joined the planting action of Milos forest on Dajbabska gora in Podgorica. This activity was organized by the organization KOD. It was the beginning of the reforestation of the area funded by money collected by local artist Milos who sold his art work for the purchase of trees. About one hundred trees where planted. We enjoyed being part of this activity. A big thanks to the artist Milos. More to come on planting at this location. #budiprimjer #NGOOuraction

CV workshop and annual results

The first week of december we organized the last of our CV workshop for the year 2019 which include carrier counseling. Ten new youth volunteers completed the training course and had the opportunity to talk to youth about how they found a job and about their first employment experiences. . In 2019 NGO Our action had 10 workshops to assist youth to achieve gainful employment. Additionally we held workshops on “Effective time management”, “Volunteering and your career” with a total over over 133 in attendance. Furthermore 64% of youth in our NGO from 16 to 22 years of age already had their first work exeriences, older volunteer with already some experience under their belts, and this year 40% of new members of age 16 to 18 where seasonally gainfully employed and in this way where able to assist their families finances by paying for their universities, excursions, prom and other costs. In 2020 additional value added outside of school education will be added.

Volunteer support, Ball of mules, Martinici

NGO Our action had the honor to support the 5th Ball of mules with its volunteers in Martinici. In this fantastic setting with an abundance of home made products, mulled wine and other homemade refreshements this ball was visited by 4000 people in one day. The mules enjoyed plenty of carrots and apples, and the people enjoyed them and the surrounding nature. Our volunteers had the opportunity to experience and volunteer someplace new, see another beautiful part of Montenegro and see a home based sustainable business at first hand, while in the same time helping in the organization of the event. Beach clean up Maljevik, Sutomore

On this wonderful first of december day, 50 volunteers spend the day cleaning beach Maljevik in Sutomore. The call for action at this beach was joinded by organization “Do not throw bottles”, the Dolphin Research center, NGO Clean sea, Kayak and SUP business Sutomore, the NGO LGBT Forum Progres, Undiscovered Montenegro and citizens of Sutomore, with the support of the muncipality of Sutomore and waste management of Bar. We collected 195 bags of 120L capacity, one full bag of plastic bottle lids for the initiative “A lid for invalid children” and a large amount of bulk waste items. The sea placed huge amount of plastic on the beach after a storm that hit Montenegro, but we returned the beach to it’s original glori. Following work the volunteers enjoyed the beach with football and swimming. Volunteer support for the UpShift project, elemetary school “Njegos”, Kotor

On the 16th of November volunteer of NGO Our action offered assistance to a team of students that won the UpShift project funds for a improvement of the elementary school “Njegos” in Skaljari, Kotor. Many local volunteers, students of the school and their parents, educational staff and the fire department joined this working activity. The action consisted of tree planting, court yard cleaning, removing of old window tapestry, paining the entire gym, painting the walls in the girls and boys bathrooms, painting the school entrance, cleaning of drainage channels around the entire school and removing dangerous leaning and broken tree branches from the school roof. We thank the UpShift wining team consisting of Ivana Rapovac, Dejana Vujkovic and Nadja Srdic on a greatly organized event. Thanks to all the volunteers especially the elementary school teacher Tanja Lalosevic. Thank to the director and the admin staff for cooperation, and thank you to the local Kotor fire department.

River clean-up action, Ribnica

On the 10th of November, under very poor weather conditions, we managed to organize the river Ribnica clean-up action. The action was joined by our partner organization the kayak club “Podgorica” and the Podgorica Waste management company. We have managed to collect 30 bags of waste and a decent amount of larger waste items such as chairs and paint cans. Since the recent flooding and coastal bad weather brought a lot of plastic and other waste to the beaches and river banks, we are calling for all organizations, willing volunteer, citizens and the waste management companies to have actions to clean the accumulations.
