Planting action – Dajbabska gora, Podgorica

For the second spring in a row, we are joining the KOD organization in the action of suspecting Dajbabska gora. Numerous citizens and organizations joined and 20,000 acres were planted. At the location, our small team found those seedlings that we planted the previous year. We were pleased to help and join the activities and joining them is certainly part of our program “Nature for mental and physical health of young people” which I implement through the support of the European endowment for democracy.

Support for the construction of a greenhouse in Berane #novamoba

For the second time, our young members had the opportunity to support the Nova Moba project implemented by the NGO Paradigm through the US Embassy. This time we headed to Berane, where we helped build a greenhouse and plant towers. More and more young people are being trained through such projects on how to build, use tools, create and plant with their own hands. Through the program “Nature for the physical and mental health of young people” funded by the European endowment for democracy, we join such and similar projects that are of social importance.

Youth planting action, Basta ekologika

Today, at Basta ekologika n on Mareza the youth planting action was held. Young volunteers planted over 500 grapes of pedunculate oak for the needs of the Montenegrin Society of Ecologists. We then planted 200 seedlings of medunca (whose acorns we collected in December in Herceg Novi) for the needs of the coastal municipalities of Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi, and finally we transplanted 150 seedlings of two-year and three-year seedlings of Trojan, coastal oak and medunca into larger containers. We are grateful to Basti Ekologika for education, invitation and hospitality. We are already looking forward to new activities. Educational walking tour Velje brdo and cave Magara

Although we are not able to leave our cities on weekends, there are many locations in the municipalities that young people are not familiar with. So yesterday, a cheerful group of young people, led by the new executive director of the NGO Our action Dejan Besovic, headed to one such location. It is about Velje brdo on which there is, forgotten by many, the fortress Crvena stijena with an incredible view of Podgorica and its surroundings. Then we headed towards the Mareza cave, at the entrance of which there is a strange stone skull. This educational walking tour for young people is organized as part of the program “Nature for the physical and mental health of young people” and is funded by the European endowment for democracy. English language conversation night

What is it like to be a young executive director of an NGO? Why do you want to leave this country? Do you expect changes in the country with new people at the helm? What do you plan to do next with your career? and much more, were the topics of discussion during the “English Language Chat” led by entrepreneur Danny Canas with young volunteers from the NGO Our action. This is the first chat of this kind and it will be organized every third Friday in the premises of the NGO in Podgorica. The aim of this workshop is to practice conversational English through discussion and sharing the opinions of young people. Educational documentary film evening

Based on the proposal of our leaders of the youth education team Jane Obradovic and Brajan Martic, an educational documentary film evening was held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in the premises of the NGO Our action. The evening was opened by Brian, followed by a screening of David Attenborough’s film: “A life on our planet”. Time management workshop

A step into the world of adults, a step from primary to secondary school, then from high school to college or work requires much more responsibilities and skills than the education system transfers to young people. That’s why we’ve been talking about time management skills for the past few days to keep young people productive and successful. Time management is one of the most important skills we need to master throughout life because it is the key to satisfaction in professional and personal life. NGO Our action through the support of the European Endowment for Democracy continues the education of young people through the program “Career education and employability of young people”.

Weekend youth work in Kotor and Podgorica

Last weekend, young members of the NGO Our action spent time working and helping in Kotor and Podgorica. On Saturday, February 6, we were in charge of removing the lighting from the citadel and bridges, as well as the hotel balconies, and then analyzing the condition of the floodlights on the ramparts. The action was realized in cooperation with the Directorate for Development and Construction of Kotor. On Sunday, February 7, we went to Basta Ekologika on Mareza in Podgorica to lend a hand to the NGO Paradigma in the realization of the project “Nova moba”. Soil and fertilizer have been prepared for new towers for vegetables and greenhouses that will be set up in many cities in Montenegro. Educational visit to “Speltarium”

On this rainy and last day of January, a group of young people from the NGO Our action and the NGO Green home visited the Speltarium in Zabjelo to learn more about this wonderful virgin wheat grass. Speltarium with a lot of effort, experimentation and work was built by a small company Permakultura.me-Academy for Urban Ecological Engineering. We were hosted by our dear Aleksandrina Vujacic, an engineer, professor and designer of permaculture who motivated us with her detailed and honest presentation on the battle for the perfect product – an extract of young spelled grass. The NGO Our action organized this activity as part of the program “Nature for the physical and mental health of young people” and is funded through the institutional support of the European Endowment for Democracy.

Career counseling workshop for young people

On Saturday, January 31, another group of young people stopped by the offices of the NGO Our action for a consultation and education on the topic of career counseling. Part of the team also decided to apply for Upshift, so after the workshop they stayed to brainstorm. The goal of such and similar activities is to further improve the skills and information of young people on how to advance and direct their careers, how to get a job and / or enroll in foreign universities and scholarships.
